Emory University Hospital Midtown is honored to be a Baby-Friendly Hospital. This designation demonstrates our team’s commitment to helping you build lasting bonds with your baby in those first moments of life. Here, that includes:

• The opportunity to hold your baby skin-to-skin (against your chest) immediately after delivery. Research has shown that skin-to-skin contact helps calm newborns, regulates their temperatures, reduces their heart rate, helps moms heal from delivery, and promotes breastmilk production.
• Rooming in with the baby to nurture your bonding experience and breastfeeding journey.
• Dedicated breastfeeding support to provide compassionate and understanding advice to you as you begin to establish breastfeeding habits and routines.

Above all, our Baby-Friendly designation is our commitment to making sure you are comfortable, confident at every stage of your pregnancy, labor, delivery and recovery and that your baby’s start in life is positive, loving and welcoming.

Our birthing suites at Emory University Hospital Midtown were designed with mom in mind. We’ve worked to create a space where you feel comfortable, safe and calm during your labor and delivery. That includes space for you, baby and your support person, including a sofa/bed in each room. You can also take advantage of a support device, such as squats or peanut balls to aid your labor. Ask your nurse for more details.

After delivery, you’ll eventually be moved to one of our Mother-Baby rooms, so you can continue to get to know your newest arrival. Every room is private and allows your support person to spend the night on a sofa bed or window seat bed. You’ll also find a private bathroom for your comfort.
