I think my case is very complicated. I provided a one page summary sheet expecting diagnosis and explanation what is going on. Dr Katz made a statement along the lines that you got bad genes and not much can be done. Chronic issues are not a death sentence. I want to live my best life given what is given me. Dr. Katz reluctantly offered X-ray and even MRi. I was good to start with X-ray. The X-rays showed fusion around L4/l5 which was new. No discussion about my previous symptoms in relationship to what we discovered. Was not planning any treatment for me. I was.very disappointment. He eventually gave me a PT referral. When I got home, I did a simple search for newly fused l4/l5. It stated PT is recommended as it will affect surrounding muscles. In hindsight, I think water PT will be best to deal current nerve pain/issue. I strongly feel I need some stability in my back and hips. I was hoping for a discussion I. This and pros/cons. If I can stabilize a portion, L4-S1, I feel like I can build muscle support around hips, SI joint, and upper back and delay/slow onset on conditions. I.e try to 5-15 years of productive life. Dr. Karz and I have a different vision how to treat my issues. I think Dr Katz is a very capable doctor, I need one with a positive vision what could be and provide proactive options. I was expecting a discussion on PT referral and referral to surgeon on ways to stabilize my back and the pros and cons.

I really appreciate Dr Katz. He is the second provider I have seen about my problem. The Initial provider I saw a couple years have basically just sent me to PT and said "good luck", didn't even show or explain my MRI. Dr Katz took his time to explain it to me, take me through each care option, and took what I said seriously when offering potential solutions. He has never made me feel like I did something wrong / like it's my fault for being in pain, which sounds like something that doctors should always do but it's unfortunately not been my experience. I also appreciated him comparing my old MRI to my new one and pointing out why I'm feeling pain, this was extremely helpful and validating for me, and helped me understand how we needed to shift my care approach to address the pain differently than we had before. He gave me hope for living more functionally and with less pain for the first time in a long time, which was really awesome for me after living with this pain for 10 years (despite maintaining physical activity / health etc). I appreciate his conservative approach, him answering all my questions without patronizing me, and his solutions-oriented mindset. It's nice when a provider actually spends time with you and gives you tailored advice, and doesn't dismiss you or give up after a couple of initial approaches not working.

The last doctor I saw was a resident, and she had to leave when she told me this. I had such emotions about it that I started to cry. I was just telling her how concerned, considerate how much she cared about my well-being. She went through my labs with me, she Just very detailed. I never had that and Emory or anywhere else a doctor that took the time to handle every aspect of my well-being, labs x-rays everything I needed and I was telling her how I never had that before and I'm so glad she's in my life and she said I'm so sorry but I have to tell you that I'm leaving and I'm like no oh my goodness and then I started crying that bull hole but just tears rolling down because It's very odd and almost impossible to find a doctor like her. She was amazing caring loving it was just who she was to core wherever she goes they would be blessed.

Randy Katz took the time to do a detailed and thorough injury history exam. He poked and prodded and he asked a lot of questions about when I was injured, where, why, and how I managed to injure myself. He found out that I had two areas of pain, ordered X-rays, & administered one cortisone shot where I'd twisted my back and suffered pain. That "golf swing" pain Is gone. It was lower back pain on the right dorsal side. D.O. Katz advised rest & conservative movement for the injury I suffered while lifting weights at LA Fitness.

I was referred to Dr. Katz by a physical therapist at Hawk for nerve pain. I have continued to go to him for my knee pain because I appreciate ;and prefer his approach to mediicne whereby we try different things and do workarounds (e.g., I have a coclhlear implant and cannot have an MRI). I want to avoid full replacement knee surgery if possible and he and my physical therapist at MSK are doing all they can to help me do that.

Amazingly, on this visit in refer, Aug 9, 2024, Dr, Katzs even zeroed in on and medicated,via injection, an extremity site that relieved other discomfort that I was experiencing, but of which cause I was unaware, and I got relief In a very short time.

I have been seeing Dr. Katz for nearly 10 years. He listens, understands my issues, and discusses treatment options in a manner that I can clearly understand.

Very thorough and detailed. He went above and beyond to load my MRI into the portal.

In examining my knee, Dr. Katz moved it around to see about the amount of discomfort it gave me. Twice it was extremely painful (and let him know when I screamed out). When I sat up, it seemed to be okay. But when I stood up, it was very painful. The next two days, I had problems standing and sitting on that (left) knee. It is very slowly getting better. Bottom line is I felt better before this visit and I would not want to come back. Or recommend anyone else visit as well.
