Dr Cruz interrupted me abruptly as I tried to provide background info about how/when my asymptomatic shoulder became symptomatic again. She said "I have questions to ask". Then she seemed to not like the fact that I prefer not to take medications/injections based on how my body reacts to them. She offered nothing "new"/different than what other ortho has offered even though she was promoted as being concerned with "whole person". She was impatient as I attempted to discern whether a physical movement hurt or not. She seemed bothered by my attendance, even though I was referred by the spine provider whose shoulder test during assessment produced pain enough to bring tears. She began forcefully tapping on my clavicle without regard to my healing from chest wall reconstruction surgery 7 mo ago, from which I am still healing. I felt gaslighted as she said I "looked great" and my X-rays "looked great" and "the only way I know you have arthritis is by the MRI report you brought". She also seemed bothered by my questions about long term prognosis. Additionally, "somehow" during this visit an unfounded "problem" appeared in my MyChart record that I messaged for immediate removal (which it was by the nurse, who was very helpful). Overall, I was very disappointed in the professionalism of Dr Cruz, not only in her "bedside manner" but also in her attire, which included a "cropped" top that showed half-inch or so of her abdomen. She seemed more like she was addressing a 1st year med student than a patient referred to her from a colleague.

Dr. Cruz talks so very fast while giving so many options. It was confusing as to what was the best option for me so I had to decide.

The provider did not show enough care or perhaps professionalism. I expected her to look at my knee or perhaps feel it. None of that. This was the first time I see a provider with an ailment and the provider did not make an effort to look at the part of the ailment( or pain) or touch it. This was strange.

I would have a better opinion if both providers had examined me to determine the ROM of the affected areas. However this was not done. Merely spoke of what pained me, options available. The only reason I selected all "Very Good" in all categories is because you don't offer VERY, VERY GOOD.

Both Resident and overseeing Doctor were excellent in their work with me. The only thing I would have liked to know (but didn't think to ask at the time) is why an MRI or sonigram would not have been helpful. It didn't come up.

Dr. Cruz did the televisit with me from what looked like her home. She seemed in a hurry and I felt very rushed. We lost connection and she had to log back in. This is the first time in two years that I've had a unprofessional experience with a doctor at Emory.

I was given injections in both knees and 2 prescriptions were called in to my pharmacy. It was explained clearly what to expect with the medication and what medication to discontinue taking as well. After waiting for Dr. Cruz to arrive for more than an hour, I was very disappointed in the level of concern she showed for me as a patient. During the visit, the doctor sat on her stool about 6 feet away and never moved closer. She never performed any physical examination of my left knee where was have the most problems with my arthritis, which Included swallowing which I repeatedly mentioned to her. Additionally, I informed the nurse that I was having some pain In my shoulders, and more pain In the right shoulder than the left. The doctor did not discuss my concerns regarding the pain In my shoulders at all. After spending time waiting for the doctor as well as the time spent with the doctor, it seemed to me that the visit could have been teleconference instead of me coming into the office. I wondered while I was waiting and after the visit with Dr. Cruz, whether I was being treated this way because I was a Black Male Senior Citizen. I have been a patient at Emory Healthcare for many years and I have never been treated with the level of disrespect that I received in this visit compared to all the visits before.
