The resident who began the nerve study failed to realize it was to be a bi-lateral procedure. Once Dr.McCrate came in and determined this she took over and essentially redid 50% of reading performed by the resident. This extended the timeline of the procedure and as a result I felt the reading on the second arm were rushed as other patients were waiting for the room/equipment. Dr. McCrate did an excellent job with the process to ensure it was done properly.

The resident who performed most of my EMG was excellent - thorough, respectful, and explained what was happening. When the supervising provider came in, however, the experience changed. She stated she needed to speed things up, which made me feel rushed. She did not explain well what she was doing, had me switch sides without wiping off the ultrasound gel, and her manner felt stand-offish. Overall, her bedside manner left me feeling uncomfortable.

Just did not like her vibe ; not friendly; I felt like a number she was trying to make a quota; don't know what she went through that day. When I am seeing my patients no matter what I have been through I try to greet them with a smile and show that I care.

I feel Dr. McCate was experienced and knowledgeable. She became a little irritated when I wanted my left arm checked for numbness and coldness.

3 out of 5 Reviewed on 2025-04-09

The Spine doctor talks too fast about my condition, which didn't allow me time to think thru what I felt or understood. It was he fast speaking on what was going on with me, then quickly assigning me to take therapy. She seem to have spoken from what she thinks she knew, as if she was just going thru the motion of a normal thing off the top of her head.

When I asked a question about the potential for a cure she responded with "I don't have a crystal ball". Perhaps I didn't phrase my question appropriately but that felt somewhat demeaning.

3 out of 5 Reviewed on 2025-04-03

I didn't feel a connection with the doctor. I'm not sure if the doctor thought I was there for narcotics because the doctor kept stressing she doesn't give prescription for narcotics. I felt uncomfortable, especially since I didn't asked the doctor for any type of narcotics. The way I was poked and pulled on had me in tears. I want looking for sympathy, I was wanting help with my constant chronic back pain. I was referred to a pain management doctor and other referral.

This was my 2nd interaction with Dr McCrate. She is so focused on her technique, so mechanical in her interactions, doesn't connect with me as a live, interested and knowledgeable patient--an RN, retired PhD professor--who wants a little more technical description of anatomical body parts probed during the exam. She's a teaching faculty member who ought to be comfortable using scientific language with a patient giving multiple cues that she wants that level of interaction.

The provider abruptly entered the room and basically instructed the nurse/assistant to move through the preparation more quickly and left. She later reentered and appeared to be in a rush. She did not clearly provide instructions and seemed annoyed when I attempted to ask for clarity. At the end of the procedure, the provider asked me to basically remove the garment I was given for the procedure while she was still in the room finishing her notes. It was a really unusual experience. Most providers exit the room when patients are removing garments, so I would not recommend this provider to anyone.
