Homaira Ayesha Hossain, MD, is a board-certified, fellowship-trained Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Emory University School of Medicine.
Dr. Hossain received her bachelors degree from Vanderbilt University, and her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. After an internship at University of Tennessee Medical Center, she completed a residency in ophthalmology at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. She completed a fellowship in ocular immunology and uveitis from Massachusetts Eye Research and Surgery Institution, as well as a fellowship in medical retina from Emory Eye Center.
She has practiced ophthalmology in a variety of settings, including at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in the Tennessee Valley Healthcare System. She has also trained residents in clinical and surgical ophthalmology as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine.
Dr. Hossain's primary practice locations are at the Emory Eye Center main location on the Emory University campus, and at Grady Memorial Hospital. Her clinical and research interests include inflammatory, auto-immune, and infectious diseases of the eyes, treatment of medical retinal diseases, such as diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration, retinal imaging modalities, cataract surgery, health disparities, and serving disadvantaged communities. She also has an interest in teaching and mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows in state-of-the-art management of eye diseases. She aspires to provide her patients with the highest quality medical and surgical eye care.
