Leslie Gabrielle Carter-Nuega, MD

Where did you complete your undergraduate studies, medical school, internship, residency, and fellowship? Dr. Leslie G. Carter-Nuega earned her undergraduate degree from Mercer University before completing her medical education at Morehouse School of Medicine. She then went on to complete her Internal Medicine internship and residency training at Wake Forest University, gaining clinical experience in managing a wide spectrum of complex medical conditions. What are your particular areas of clinical interest? She specializes in the longitudinal management of complex, multi-comorbid conditions. She is deeply committed to looking at the whole patient, with a focus on the social determinants of health to ensure every individual receives equitable, personalized care. What inspired you to become a physician? I wanted to become the kind of physician that my own father and family members would love to have. The healthcare system can be incredibly complicated, and I view my role not just as a doctor, but as an advocate who helps patients navigate their care safely and confidently. What I enjoy most about medicine is managing intricate health conditions while building long-term, trusting relationships with my patients. What is a fun fact about you? What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at work? Outside of the clinic, she loves to paint with a focus on narrative portraiture. When she is not painting, she loves traveling, cooking, and spending time with family. What area of Atlanta do you live in? Are you married or do you have children? (Please share only if you’re comfortable.) What brought you to the Atlanta area? A deep love for the city and a desire to be close to family brought Dr. Carter-Nuega back to the Atlanta area.
