A board-certified medical oncologist Melissa A. Wilson, MD, PhD, specializes in the treatment of melanoma and other skin cancers. She has extensive expertise in immunotherapy, targeted therapies and precision medicine approaches for patients with cutaneous malignancies. Throughout her career, she has been committed to advancing innovative treatment strategies and expanding access to clinical trials for patients with cancer.
Dr. Wilson is an associate professor in the Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology at Emory University School of Medicine and a member of the cancer care team at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University. Before joining Emory, she held faculty appointments at NYU Langone Medical Center, Thomas Jefferson University and St. Luke's University Health Network, where she served as medical director of the Melanoma Program and director of the Hematology and Medical Oncology Fellowship Program.
She earned a PhD in biochemistry and molecular biology from Georgetown University. Dr. Wilson received her medical degree, cum laude, from Jefferson Medical College. She completed her residency in internal medicine and fellowship in hematology and medical oncology at the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Wilson's research focuses on melanoma biology, mechanisms of resistance to targeted therapies, cancer immunotherapy and biomarker-driven treatment approaches. She has led and collaborated on numerous clinical and translational research studies and has received support from organizations including American Society of Clinical Oncology, Melanoma Research Alliance and National Cancer Institute. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and remains actively involved in clinical research, education and mentorship.
