Riley Justin Lyons, MD

Riley J. Lyons, MD, joined the Vitreoretinal Surgery and Disease Division of the Emory Eye Center in September 2026. Dr. Lyons grew up in Roswell, Georgia. He attended Dartmouth College, where he majored in biology and graduated cum laude, before returning home to Georgia for medical school. He graduated summa cum laude from the Emory University School of Medicine. He then completed both his ophthalmology residency (2020-2024) and vitreoretinal surgery fellowship (2024-2026) at the Emory Eye Center. His clinical interests include the surgical treatment of retinal detachments in both adults and children, scleral-fixated intraocular lenses, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, and pediatric retinal disorders such as retinopathy of prematurity.
