Susan Grant, RN, is an accomplished nurse executive with deep Emory roots and more than two decades of progressive leadership experience across large, complex health systems.
Susan returns to Emory Healthcare as Chief Nurse Executive, bringing a distinguished record of advancing nursing excellence, patient care, quality, safety, innovation and workforce development. She previously served as Emory’s Chief Nurse Executive and Chief Patient Services Officer from 2006–2015, leading nursing practice for approximately 5,000 registered nurses. During that time, she helped achieve Emory University Hospital’s first Magnet® designation and Emory Saint Joseph’s Magnet® redesignation, co-led the care of the first two U.S. patients with Ebola virus disease and served as interim Dean of the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing.
Previously, Susan served as Chief Clinical Officer at symplr, where she helped shape clinical strategy and clinician-focused innovation. She has also been Executive Vice President, Chief Experience Officer and Chief Nurse Executive at Wellstar Health System, overseeing nursing excellence, accreditation, patient and team member experience, and initiatives supporting approximately 9,000 registered nurses. She also served as Executive Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer at Beaumont Health, leading nursing across an eight-hospital health system and advancing Magnet® designation and redesignation.
