Ryan White Consumer Advisory Board

Emory’s Ryan White Program is evaluated regularly by our Community Advisory Board. This board comprises program participants who meet monthly to discuss services and new programs.

Our board members have access to HIV/AIDs resources, training, and conferences. They are patient advocates, and all are trained in quality improvement.

Our Community Advisory Board has developed numerous programs, such as our men's group and new patient orientation. This board also led to the hiring of peer support specialists, created patient services information cards, and developed lunch and learn programming.

HIV/AIDS Support Groups

Research shows that people with support systems have better medical outcomes than those without. Knowing you are not alone in dealing with your medical condition and other life stressors is important.

Emory’s Ryan White Program offers support groups for men and women affected by HIV/AIDS.

Men’s Support Group

Our men's support group offers a safe place for men living with HIV to gather, listen or discuss anything happening in their lives. This group, which meets monthly, is open to all ages.

For details, contact Jeff Figueroa at 404-686-2011 or Eric Thompson at 404-686-3228.

Women’s Support Group

Our women’s support group, She Matters, welcomes women living with HIV. The group meets monthly for discussions and activities. Topics include coping skills, general discussion, education, medication adherence, mind-body connection, yoga, meditation, and more.

She Matters is led by two facilitators knowledgeable about the mental health challenges and life stressors that affect women living with HIV/AIDS.

For details, contact Magdalene at 404-616-9793 or Diana at 404-686-3280.
