Outpatient Psychiatry

Emory Healthcare's Adult Psychiatry team offers outpatient services for those 18 years and older. Services are offered at our Behavioral Health Services program at Emory Decatur Hospital and include:

  • Transitions Outpatient Behavorial Programs, which includes a geriatrics partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient adult program and an intensive young adults program
  • Outpatient outpatient electroconvulsive therapy (ECT)
  • Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS)
  • Ketamine infusions

Neuromodulation Services

Our Neuromodulation Clinic helps treat some of the most pervasive and hard-to-treat mental illnesses. The clinic provides inpatient and outpatient services that include Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT), and off-label medication administration and other neuromodulation therapies as appropriate.

The Neuromodulation Clinic is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT)

  • ECT is a highly effective and fast-acting treatment for symptoms of certain mental illnesses.
  • Modern ECT is performed under general anesthesia. Small electric currents are passed through the brain to intentionally trigger a brief seizure
  • Our ECT program uses a procedures that minimizes side effects on memory or thinking during the course of treatment.
  • ECT is offered Monday, Wednesday and Friday and is often provided on an outpatient basis.

Treatment-Resistant Depression Therapies

After an in-depth psychiatric consultation, patients may receive recommendations around medications, talk therapy, and other neuromodulation options.
