We are dedicated to ensuring you have access to the latest information and guidance to help you stay healthy. You have always known Emory Healthcare to deliver high-quality care and patient safety. And, in response to COVID-19, we are taking extraordinary steps to maintain these standards.

Expansion of Elective Surgical and Procedural Services

Because of effective and continued social distancing, Emory Healthcare recently resumed time-sensitive and essential care across our facilities. We continue to see positive trends, and therefore have determined we are ready to resume elective surgical and procedural services.

Emory has the staff and supplies in place to allow for surgeries, procedures, and office visits to be performed as needed. We encourage you to keep your scheduled appointments, and if your physician has advised you to go ahead with care for your condition at any one of our facilities, please know that we are able to deliver that care with extensive safety measures in place. As always, we remain committed to monitoring our supply chain, COVID-19 positive admissions and infection rate to ensure the safety of our patients and care teams.

Patient Safety

To support the safety of our patients, families, healthcare workers, and community, we are:

  • Screening: All patients and visitors are screened for symptoms, including a temperature check, each time they enter one of our facilities. Staff and physicians also undergo regular temperature checks and symptom screenings. And all patients admitted to our hospitals are tested for active COVID-19 infection.
  • Distancing: We are spacing out appointments and have organized our waiting rooms to keep patients at a safe distance.
  • Disinfecting: We thoroughly clean equipment and exam, procedural and operating rooms between each patient. We also clean common areas like waiting areas, restrooms and elevators frequently, all using products that are known to kill the virus that causes COVID-19.
  • Isolating: We screen, identify and isolate patients with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 to minimize the chance of other patients being exposed.
  • Masking: Our staff, patients, and visitors wear masks to enhance safety.
  • Limiting Visitors: Visitors are permitted only in limited circumstances. Read the most up-to-date version of our visitor policy below.

Telehealth Appointments

To meet the needs of our patients, we are pleased to offer telehealth or remote visit options. Telehealth visits allow us to deliver patient care through a video or phone appointment in the comfort of your home. Visitor Policy

As we continue to evaluate the COVID-19 situation, we have made changes to our policies regarding visitors and wearing masks to keep all patients, staff, and community members safe. We understand the desire of loved ones to be together during illness or hospitalization, and we are utilizing technology to provide connectivity during hospital stays.
