Volunteer Programs at Emory Johns Creek Hospital

Thank you for your interest in becoming a part of the Emory Johns Creek family as a volunteer.

At Emory Johns Creek Hospital (EJCH), we believe that volunteers add a valued dimension to patient care. We fully recognize that volunteers are an integral part of the care we provide and want you to know we value you, the time you give, and the service you provide our staff, our physicians, and our patients. Your hands will touch many hearts. In addition to providing volunteer support for various hospital departments, the Emory Johns Creek Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary also operates the Gift Shop and hosts several annual fundraisers to provide scholarships to students in pursuit of medical or health care professions.

Our Offered Volunteer Programs Include:
  • Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer and a member of the Emory Johns Creek Auxiliary. The following items are required of all EJCH Auxiliary Volunteers:

    • 25 years of age or older (volunteers under 18 can participate in our VolunTEEN summer program)
    • Able to make at least a one-year commitment to volunteering
    • Available to volunteer a minimum of 4 hours/week
    • Complete and pass a criminal background check
    • Provide proof of vaccinations, including MMR, Chicken Pox, COVID-19 vaccination and annual flu vaccine
    • Complete and pass a T-Spot blood test (for tuberculosis)
    • Annual dues of $20/year
    A variety of volunteer positions are available throughout the hospital in support of our patients and staff.
  • Thank you for your interest in our Emory Johns Creek 2025-2026 College Volunteer Program. The College Student Program at Emory Johns Creek Hospital is a school term commitment from September 2025 to April 2026. Students will have a meaningful experience in a hospital setting, where they can learn how the health care system works.

    Applications should be submitted online only. Please do not mail or drop off your applications at the hospital.

    • Applications Open: June 16, 2025
    • Application Deadline: July 7, 2025 (*or after the first 40 applications received)
    • Interviews via Zoom: July 21, 2025- August 1, 2025
    • Onboarding: August 2025
    • Orientation: September 8, 2025 (MANDATORY ATTENDANCE)
    • Volunteering Period: September 2025 - April 2026
    • Commitment: One 4-hour shift per week (same day), totaling a minimum of 80 hours throughout the school year
    • Age Requirement: 18+, enrolled in a higher education program.

    General College Student Volunteer Requirements:

    • Criminal background check for all applicants 18+
    • Healthcare vaccine compliance
    • All volunteers: MMR, Varicella, Influenza
    • Labor Support Volunteers: additional requirements - Hepatitis B vaccine PLUS HepB titer, and current Tdap vaccine
    • Volunteers serve in a strictly non-clinical capacity. Additionally, most available shifts are during weekdays between 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., with very few opportunities during weeknights or weekends. College Volunteers in good standing, and who complete the 80-hour program, are invited to continue during the summer and return the following year.

    *Space is limited and applying does not guarantee a spot in the program. Application link will be disabled on July 7 or when 40 completed applications have been received.

    Please Note:

    • We do not offer short-term volunteer opportunities.
    • Early withdrawals are not permitted; students will have to reapply the following year.
    • Volunteer Services does not offer Shadowing/Observation, Internship/Externship, practicum or clinical hours opportunities.
    • We are unable to provide volunteer opportunities for court-ordered community service.

  • Summer VolunTEEN Program

    For high school students ages 16–18 (by June 1, 2026)
    This summer volunteer program offers teens the opportunity to support hospital and clinic departments while learning about healthcare careers.

    Program Highlights

    • Serve one consistent shift per week (Monday–Thursday) in the same department
    • Volunteer role—not shadowing or an internship
    • Tasks may include:
      • Organizing clinical supplies
      • Delivering meal trays
      • Assisting with department needs

    Program Dates:
    June 1 – July 24, 2026
    (Volunteering not required the week of June 29 – July 3)

    Application Timeline:

    • Opens: Tuesday, February 17, 2026
    • Closes: Friday, February 27, 2026, or until capacity is reached. Space is limited.
