Volunteering at Emory University Hospital

Emory Healthcare offers non-clinical volunteer opportunities in a variety of settings around the hospital and clinics, including the Gift Shop, Guest Services, Emergency Department and nursing units. Our volunteers help create a welcoming environment for all and enhance the patient experience.

We have several types of volunteer programs:

    • Ages 18+
    • Offered throughout the year
    • Minimum year-long commitment of four hours per week, or 100 hours annually
    • This program is currently at capacity, check back later for updates!
    • Ages 18+
    • Offered for the full academic year (September–April); must be enrolled in a higher education institution
    • Commitment: four hours per week, 80 hours minimum

    College Volunteer Program

    Summer VolunTEEN Program

    For high school students ages 16–18 (by June 1, 2026)
    This summer volunteer program offers teens the opportunity to support hospital and clinic departments while learning about healthcare careers.

    Program Highlights

    • Serve one consistent shift per week (Monday–Thursday) in the same department
    • Volunteer role—not shadowing or an internship
    • Tasks may include:
      • Organizing clinical supplies
      • Delivering meal trays
      • Assisting with department needs

    2026 Program Dates:
    June 1 – July 24, 2026
    (Volunteering not required the week of June 29 – July 3)

    Application Timeline:

    • Opens: Tuesday, February 17, 2026
    • Closes: Friday, February 27, 2026, or until capacity is reached. Space is limited

     

Patient and Family Advisors (PFAs) are current or former patients and family members. They partner with Emory Healthcare leadership, staff and doctors. PFAs help improve patient care by serving on committees, councils, project teams and other groups.
