About

Karla Marie García Ortiz, MD, is a board-certified family medicine physician specializing 
in geriatric care. She is excited to work with Emory, where she is dedicated to building 
strong, lasting relationships with her patients and delivering comprehensive, 
compassionate care to older adults throughout Georgia.
Dr. García Ortiz was born and raised in Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico, and earned her medical 
degree from the Universidad Central del Caribe. She later moved to the mainland United 
States to pursue advanced training, completing both her Family Medicine residency and 
Geriatric Medicine fellowship at Emory University. After falling in love with the Atlanta 
community and the geriatric population she serves, she chose to remain at Emory to 
continue this work.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. García Ortiz can often be found along the Atlanta BeltLine, coffee 
in hand, enjoying a walk with her dog
