About

I completed my undergraduate education at Georgia Tech, followed by post-baccalaureate studies at UGA and medical school at the Medical College of Georgia. I then completed my Family Medicine residency at Emory, with broad training in outpatient, inpatient, emergency, and preventive medicine.
During residency, I also moonlighted as a primary care physician at AG Family Medicine and worked in urgent care at Peachtree Immediate Care. These roles gave me substantial additional hands-on experience managing both chronic medical conditions and acute illnesses independently across outpatient and urgent care settings.
My clinical interests include preventive medicine, cardiovascular risk reduction, hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, obesity and weight management, hair loss, and comprehensive chronic disease management. I especially enjoy identifying health risks early and helping patients prevent future complications.
My own experience recovering from a torn ACL had a major influence on me. Seeing how a physician could restore not only my health but also my independence inspired me to pursue medicine and provide that same guidance for my patients.
I enjoy both building long-term relationships with patients and solving complex medical problems. My engineering background influences how I approach medicine: identify the underlying problem, consider the options, and develop a practical solution tailored to the patient.
Small, consistent changes can have a major impact on long-term health. I also want patients to understand the reasoning behind their care and feel comfortable asking questions so that healthcare becomes a true partnership.
I enjoy working out, listening to music, exploring restaurants around Atlanta, and spending time with my family. I live in Gwinnett County with my wife, and we are expecting our first child.
My childhood nickname was “Optimus Prime,” and it has stuck with me over the years. Once you meet me in clinic or over a televisit, you may understand why.

Dr Kang was excellent!! I appreciate his work and care. I just resent cardiology not handling the questions to begin with.

Provider did not conduct a general exam (heart, lungs, etc) but in my visit notes said he did. He did not listen to my heart, lungs, did not examine my eyes, nose or touch my neck in anyway. Disappointed that someone in a trusted position would lie and then most likely be billing my insurance company for an exam that did not happen.

Dr. Kang had an explanation for the muscular pain in my upper leg and suggested physical therapy plus a possible prescription to reduce inflammation. The exit paper showed many numbers to call to make a PT appointment, however, none for a local facility, only hospitals. The exit paper also did not shwo anything about the possible medication,

Provider did not introduce themselves upon entering the room. I appreciated their decision to consult supervising physician when unsure of diagnosis, however, did not feel an appropriate or definitive plan was developed for me.
