From the Director
Welcome to Emory Clinic Gastroenterology. We have more than 40 full-time faculty members, including clinicians, educators and researchers. In addition to a comprehensive practice at the Emory Clinic and Emory University Hospital, our physicians care for patients throughout metropolitan Atlanta. As indicated above, our practice of gastroenterology is team based with comprehensive services for pancreaticobiliary diseases, motility disorders, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), liver diseases, general problems in digestive health, nutrition, women’s health, and colorectal cancer screening.
In addition to our clinical services focused on patient-centered care, the division has a long history as a leader in teaching and training of students, residents in internal medicine, and fellows in our ACGME-accredited Gastroenterology Fellowship. We have advanced trainees in hepatology, liver transplantation, and advanced endoscopic procedures. The Division will continue to build on its basic research foundation in motility, gastrointestinal transport, mucosal immunology, liver fibrosis and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Initiatives to expand our clinical research enterprise in all major areas of digestive health include inflammatory bowel disease, health disparities in non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), hepatocellular carcinoma, and irritable bowel syndrome. To learn more about research and education within our division, please visit our Emory School of Medicine website.
