Your First Appointment

We are honored you’re entrusting us with a role in your family’s future. Our goal is to make your first visit with us as informative as possible and answer any questions you have. We look forward to providing you with compassionate, comprehensive fertility services.

What to Expect

At your first visit, you’ll check in at the front desk with a picture ID and insurance card. If you do not have insurance coverage, we will collect payment for a new patient physician visit.

At this time, you’ll meet your care team, which includes:

  • Your physician. Our medical team includes board-certified embryologists and reproductive endocrinologists, who are also full-time faculty members of the Emory University School of Medicine.
  • Your nurse. Our nurses are trained to work with the special needs of people experiencing infertility or reproductive issues. Your nurse will help to determine and explain your clinical next steps.
  • Your client experience coordinator (CEC). Your CEC helps you navigate the process and acts as a financial liaison during diagnosis and treatment. You can contact your CEC directly at any point during your care if you have any questions or concerns that need to be addressed.

You can expect your first visit to last about 1½ hours. We’ll give you an overview of the services we offer and estimated cost. If you have insurance coverage, your CEC will review your specific plan and determine if you have any pre-certifications that must be completed before you move forward.

Patient Portal

The next step is to sign up for the patient portal, if you have not already done so. The patient portal gives you an easy way to manage your health care securely and confidentially. If you are not an Emory BLUE patient portal user, please call 404-727-8820, from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday to register.

If you have used this portal in the past through a different Emory provider, you should already have an account.

New Patient Visit Form

You should complete and return our new patient visit form and a medical records release request before your first visit so your care team can review your history before you meet. This allows us to use your appointment more efficiently and gives us more time to focus on getting to know you.

We prefer you use the patient portal to return the forms. This gives us safe, secure access to the information we need quickly and conveniently. If you do not want to use the patient portal, you may bring your completed forms with you to your first appointment.
