Three Emory Healthcare hospitals have notably ranked in this year's regional rankings of U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals issue, while those three hospitals plus a fourth have garnered Best Specialty Regional Rankings.
• For the fifteenth year in a row, Emory University Hospital ranked as the No. 1 hospital in Georgia and metro Atlanta in the 2026-27 Best Regional Hospitals rankings. (Emory University Hospital includes Emory University Orthopaedics & Spine Hospital.)
o In a new category this year called Best Specialty Regional Rankings, Emory University Hospital ranked No. 1 in Cancer care and No. 2 in Cardiology, Heart & Vascular Surgery in Georgia and metro Atlanta.
• Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital ranked No. 3 in Georgia and metro Atlanta in Best Regional Rankings.
o In the Best Specialty Regional Rankings, Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital ranked No.1 in Orthopaedics care and No. 3 in Cardiology, Heart & Vascular Surgery in Georgia and metro Atlanta.
• Emory University Hospital Midtown ranked No. 4 (in a tie) in Georgia and metro Atlanta Best Regional Rankings.
o In the Best Specialty Regional Rankings, Emory University Hospital Midtown ranked No. 3 in Cancer care in both Georgia and metro Atlanta.
In the Best Specialty Regional Rankings, Emory Rehabilitation Hospital ranked No. 2 in Rehabilitation in both Georgia and metro Atlanta.
In the 2026-27 Best Hospitals Adult Specialty National Rankings:
• Emory University Hospital ranked nationally in the following specialties: Cancer, Geriatrics, Neurology & Neurosurgery and Urology. The hospital was considered high performing in: Cardiology, Heart & Vascular Surgery, Diabetes & Endocrinology, Gastroenterology & GI Surgery and Pulmonary & Lung Surgery.
• Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital ranked high performing in Cardiology, Heart & Vascular Surgery, Geriatrics and Orthopaedics.
• Emory University Hospital Midtown ranked high performing in Cancer, Geriatrics, Pulmonology & Lung Surgery and Urology.
• Emory Rehabilitation Hospital ranked high performing in Rehabilitation.

U.S. News & World Report began publishing hospital rankings in 1990, as “America’s Best Hospitals,” to identify medical centers in various specialties best suited for patients whose illnesses pose challenges because of underlying conditions, procedure difficulty, advanced age or other medical issues that add risk. Hospitals are assessed in 14 specialty areas for the rankings. In 11 of the 14 specialties, rankings are based largely on objective data sources that look at survival rates for serious cases, patient experience and other performance measures. In three specialties (Ophthalmology, Psychiatry and Rheumatology), ranking relies solely on expert opinion. More than 4,500 hospitals were evaluated this year.
U.S. News & World Report first published Best Regional Hospitals in 2011. Regional hospital rank is determined by objective data – largely patient outcome metrics – derived from its scores across procedure and condition areas.
