DECATUR, GA — Emory Decatur Hospital, located at 2701 North Decatur Road, now offers comprehensive breast surgery through the Emory Division of Breast Surgery. The division brings multidisciplinary cancer care along with the full scope of breast care and surgical services to patients in DeKalb County.
“Whether facing a new breast cancer diagnosis or simply wanting to learn more about their breast health, patients shouldn’t have to travel far to receive specialized breast care” says Tari A. King, MD, chief of the Division of Breast Surgery at Emory University School of Medicine and chief surgical officer for the Emory Healthcare Cancer Service Line. “As part of Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University, our goal is to bring expert, coordinated preventive services and breast cancer care into the communities we serve. Expanding to Emory Decatur Hospital means more patients can get screening, risk assessment and surgical treatment from one connected team, close to home.”
Leading the service at Emory Decatur Hospital is board-certified breast surgical oncologist Priscilla F. McAuliffe, MD, PhD, FACS, an associate professor in the Division of Breast Surgery at Emory University School of Medicine. McAuliffe treats a broad range of breast conditions, from non-invasive disease to locally advanced breast cancer, with the goal of providing a treatment plan that is most appropriate for the individual patient. She also has a special interest in caring for patients with invasive lobular breast cancer as well as those diagnosed after the age of 70.
McAuliffe completed her surgical oncology fellowship at University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and works closely with Winship Cancer Institute’s multidisciplinary breast cancer team. Her arrival builds on recent growth in breast health services at Emory Decatur, including a newly opened breast health center and an enhanced high-risk breast clinic launched with colleagues in gynecology and genetics.
“This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we’re proud to expand the care available to women right here in DeKalb County,” says Jen Schuck, chief executive officer of Emory Decatur, Emory Hillandale and Emory Long-Term Acute Care hospitals. “Bringing the Emory Division of Breast Surgery to Emory Decatur Hospital strengthens the full continuum of breast care we offer, from screening and risk assessment to surgery, all within the community we serve.”
