Pharmacy

The decision has been made to start you on a specialty medication. We know this time can be stressful and full of complex decisions. As experts of medications, our goal is to help take some of the stress off of you. Your prescription has already been sent to our pharmacy; however, prior to receiving and starting your medication, a few things will need to be done.

Despite your insurance company approving your medication, often times your copayments or coinsurance may remain high. We will research available medication assistance programs that may help lower your drug therapy cost.

For patients who live within a 50-mile radius of our pharmacy, we utilize a local courier service to deliver your medication to a location of your choosing. For patients outside of the 50-mile range, we will ship all medications overnight via FedEx. Delivery is free and on-time. Our team will ensure your medications will be kept safe and secure throughout the process.

If you would rather come to the pharmacy to pick up your medication(s), we can work with you to schedule that as well. We have outpatient pharmacies at Emory University Hospital Midtown and Emory University Hospital. Please coordinate this pick up with us ahead of time to ensure your medications are available and ready.

We will notify you to remind you when your refills are due in order to prevent a delay in your therapy. Please call 404-686-5020 during our normal business hours if you have any questions or need assistance.

• Board Certified, Specialty Trained Clinical pharmacist who collaborates with you and your physician to provide individualized clinical monitoring of your medications, proper use, side-effects, interactions, and monitoring of labs
• Provides education on your medication through initial and regularly scheduled follow-up consultations
• Answers your questions before starting medication, while on treatment and after completing treatment

• Works with you, your insurance company, and your clinic provider to complete prior authorizations for your new medication
• This team may call you to inquire about insurance information prior to filling your medication
• In some circumstances, you may not be able to fill your medication due to your insurance company requiring you fill at their preferred pharmacy. If this is the case, the Medication Access Specialist will coordinate the transfer of your medication to the appropriate pharmacy after obtaining the prior authorization

• Provides pre-and final- verification of the appropriate medication before you receive it
• Provides additional patient education on your medication(s)

• Proactively contacts you before every fill of your medication to verify your method of pick-up/delivery, triage any issues you may be experiencing with your medication, and answer any other questions you may have
• Safely fills your medication order each time you need it
