Georgia's Leader in
Advanced Heart Failure
Advanced Heart Failure Care at Emory
At Emory's Advanced Heart Failure Therapy program, we provide comprehensive care for adults living with heart failure - from early-stage disease to advanced, complex cases. Our team offers access to the latest FDA-approved and investigational medications and devices, remote monitoring technology, innovative cardiac surgery, heart transplantation and ventricular assist device (VAD) therapy.
Personalized, Team-Based Care
We believe the right treatment starts with listening. Our multidisciplinary team - including cardiologists, heart surgeons, transplant coordinators, pharmacists, social workers, nutritionists and physical therapists - works together to create a care plan tailored to each patient’s unique needs.
Program Highlights
- Implanted more HeartMate 3™ LVADs in 2022 than any program in the world
- Surpassed 1,000 VAD implants in 2024, joining only a handful of U.S. programs to reach this milestone
- Implanted the first BrioVAD device in the United States in 2024
- Patient- and family-centered approach focused on clear communication and support
Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) Program
Emory is home to Georgia’s first VAD program. Our surgeons have extensive experience implanting artificial heart pumps for:
- Bridge to transplant when a donor heart is not immediately available
- Destination therapy for patients who are not transplant candidates
Our program has maintained The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval since 2009, reflecting our ongoing commitment to quality and safety.
