The Emory Healthcare Nurse Residency is a one-year, evidence-based program that we administer on-site. This program, developed by Vizient/AACN, offers monthly sessions that support new nurses during year one of their first nursing role. Through residency sessions and facilitator support, we help nurse residents develop strong communication and leadership skills while boosting their confidence and competence. We do not require a work commitment or contract for our residency program.

We have three large hiring events each year where we offer new graduate nursing positions at each of our Emory Healthcare hospitals.
When you apply, send a resume that includes your relevant work experience, details of your clinical rotations and skills. Be sure to highlight your senior practicum.
For questions about programs, including when they begin, please contact Jessica Alvarez or Tausha Harris.

During interviews, applicants meet with Human Resources and unit directors or other clinical leaders. If you are hired, Human Resources will send you a formal job offer. Before your employment begins, be sure you have met all pre-employment requirements (Georgia RN licensure, satisfactory criminal background check, health assessment, references, etc.).
When possible, we strive to accommodate every new graduate’s request for a preferred department, shift or location. But we place new hires based on the positions we have available.

Nurse Residency Program orientation and new-hire training is a multi-step process. All new employees attend a two-day mandatory orientation. Every nurse also attends a patient service orientation. If needed, new nurses take computer classes or other required training courses.
In addition, each unit provides unit-specific orientation. To streamline orientation into these unit-based residency programs, we have new graduate nurses start at each facility around the same time.

From Newborn to Nurse Leader
Registered nurse Brittany has always been one of Emory’s own. Born at Crawford Long Hospital (now Emory University Hospital Midtown), she returned to Emory straight out of nursing school.
In her time at Emory Healthcare, she's progressed to a leadership role, guiding a team of 140 employees across 28 operating rooms who handle more than 14,000 surgical cases per year. Brittany is driven by the impact her work has on patients every day and she believes "the sky is the limit" working in the Emory Healthcare system.
