We’ll share our experience and insight to help you navigate your miscarriage and make plans for the future.

Early Pregnancy Loss Care

Early pregnancy loss care extends beyond a miscarriage. While we will certainly provide care that will keep you safe and healthy, we’ll also look at the bigger picture. We’ll work closely with your general OB-GYN and other specialists to better understand your medical history, and we’ll discuss with you your options for care during and after your miscarriage.

Your care will be tailored to you—your health, your history, your goals and your beliefs. Your care plan may include:

  • Contraceptive counseling to give your body time to heal and recover before trying to conceive again. We can also refer you to maternal-fetal medicine specialists who are experienced in managing high-risk pregnancies
  • Nonsurgical management of miscarriage may allow you to stay at home as your body naturally ends the pregnancy or does so with the aid of safe and effective medication.
  • Surgical management of miscarriage which typically includes a dilation and curettage (D&C) and can be done under local anesthesia or general anesthesia. You are usually able to go home on the same day as the procedure.
  • Surgical treatment of certain gynecologic conditions which may be causing early pregnancy loss. Most patients will be able to undergo surgery to treat conditions such as fibroids, cysts or endometriosis once you recover from your D&C. Your doctor will discuss if you’re a candidate.
  • Nonsurgical treatment for gynecologic conditions may be causing recurrent loss. Your complex family-planning physician can help diagnose and treat certain gynecologic conditions that may be increasing your risk of miscarriage. We often work with your OB-GYN, reproductive endocrinologists and maternal-fetal specialists to find answers and address any issues.
  • Support and resources that allow you to cope and recover from the loss, however you feel comfortable. We offer support groups, keepsakes and much more. Let us know how we can help you during this time.
