On the next page, choose the following:
- MyChart username: Choose a username that others can't easily guess but that you can remember. You cannot change your username at any time.

- Security question: Select a question to verify your identity if you forget your MyChart password. The answer cannot include your MyChart password.

If you still haven’t received the code, try again. Select text as your method for authentication instead of email. You also can choose not to require two-factor authentication.

When you sign up, Emory Healthcare uses a security process through a third-party company to confirm your identity. This security process helps us protect your health information. You’ll answer a few questions about your past to ensure your information matches our patient records.
A credit check is not part of this process. It does not affect your credit score. Emory Healthcare does not sell patient information. The information used to confirm your identity is not shared with or stored by Emory Healthcare.
-
If you've been seen at another healthcare organization, you can link that account with your Emory Healthcare MyChart.
Click Profile and then click Link My Accounts to get started. Then select your account from the list and click Link Account.
You may be able to view information from other medical records in MyChart, including:
- Allergies
- Care team
- Health issues

-
If you’ve had a visit with a doctor and they appear in your “Care Team” list on MyChart, send a message to confirm your appointment. If you can’t use the messages feature, call the doctor’s office to confirm your appointment.

Emory Healthcare defines a child as between 0 and 12 years old. A teen is between 13 and 17 years old.
A child’s parent/guardian can create an account for the patient and receive full access to the health information in MyChart. We complete this process during an in-person appointment with the care team.
Under Georgia laws, when a child turns 13, they can consent to specific treatments and procedures. Therefore, teens between 13 and 17 years old have their own MyChart account. Parents/guardians may have access as a proxy with standard access to some health information. Parents/guardians may request expanded access that includes information about medications, lab results and visit summaries.
Suppose the teen needs an adult, a surrogate decision-maker, to help make decisions for them. In that case, the care team will work with the surrogate to set up the MyChart account.

Under Georgia laws, when a child turns 13, they can consent to specific treatments and procedures. Therefore, teens between 13 and 17 years old have their own MyChart account.
Parents/guardians may have access as a proxy with standard access to basic health information. Parents/guardians may request expanded access that includes full access to information about medications, lab results and visit summaries.
Standard Access:
Standard access allows proxies to view basic health information, such as:
- Administrative Information
- Immunizations
- Insurance
- Patient Preferences
- Provider Details

Expanded Access
Expanded access allows proxies total access to a patient’s information and allows a proxy to take the same actions as the patient.
Some examples of expanded access include:
- Appointment Details
- Health History
- Lab Results
- Medical Advice Requests
- Recent Visits Summary
- Plans of Care
- Review Patient's Messages & Physician Notes
-
Parents/guardians can request expanded access. This request requires the teen and their provider to discuss proxy access to the teen’s health record and a request be made by the parent/guardian through My Chart. Or, expanded access can be requested by talking with the patient’s health care provider.
-
When a patient turns 18, all proxy access is disabled automatically. To re-instate proxy access, the patient must follow the instructions for granting adult proxy access.

EHC enables you to connect Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR)-based health apps to your Epic electronic health record. Patients can connect health apps and devices directly in MyChart. When these apps attempt to access your health record, you should be redirected to EHC’s MyChart page to log in with your credentials. This uses OAuth2 to securely connect the health app to your health record.
- Instructions on how to connect a FHIR app to your health record are available at https://open.epic.com/Tutorial/PatientAuthentication.
- Note: Organizations seeking to connect apps to Emory’s instance of Epic can use Epic’s public websites to gather information on how to do so. For example, apps that use the USCDI v3 FHIR APIs and meet other criteria can automatically download to Emory’s instance of Epic
(https://fhir.epic.com/Documentation?docId=patientfacingfhirapps). Other applications seeking to leverage the FHIR APIs can develop and test connections using the resources available at https://open.epic.com/DeveloperResources.

Any connections you set up with health management apps through your Emory Healthcare patient portals will remain in place through April 2024. However, older portal connections will not receive new data.
To keep those apps updated, you need to connect them to your Emory Healthcare MyChart account instead.
When the old Emory Healthcare patient portals go away for good, their connections to your health apps will also be gone. However, this old data may remain on your mobile device.
For example, if you connect your medical record to the Apple Health app, your device stores the data. If you connect to a health management app with your new Emory Healthcare MyChart account and your previous patient portal, you might have duplicate data.
Protect your data and understand the security of any connections you make to applications outside of Emory Healthcare. When you connect your health record to any outside app, you are responsible for protecting your information. Emory no longer manages the security and use of your patient data. Read all policies in full and ensure you manage your data appropriately.
